Camp Hi-Rock's Strong Kids Campaign
Make
a donation online at: ymcastrongkids.org
Every summer, hundreds of children experience the magic of Camp
Hi-Rock. If you have been to camp or participated in some of Camp
Hi-Rock's efforts, you already understand what we mean when we refer to
that magic. Many of the children who experience that magic each summer
would not be able to do so without generous support from people like
you who contribute to our Strong Kids Campaign.
Gifts to the Campaign make it possible for children who could not
otherwise afford to participate to live as part of the Hi-Rock
community, and to find their "home away from home." Camp Hi-Rock is a
special place at the top of a mountain where socio-economic barriers
are broken down, where children build positive memories that will
sustain them for a lifetime, and where they have experiences that will
leave an indelible mark on their character.
Please consider making a tax-deductible contribution to this tradition
of diversity and community. All of the funds raised through this
campaign will go directly toward financial assistance for campers and
overall improvement of our camp programs. We follow an Open Door Policy
and strongly believe that no child should be turned away from a camp
experience due to an inability to pay.
Thank you for helping us ensure that no child is denied the opportunity
to have a life-changing experience at YMCA Camp Hi-Rock.

Hi-RockStars:
A Service Club at YMCA Camp Hi-Rock
Over
the past few years we have seen an increase in camper participation in
our volunteer work weekends and desire by campers to be increasingly
involved in volunteering and in the future of Camp Hi-Rock. We want to
provide an opportunity whereby campers can have a direct impact on the
current and future success of the camp and give back to a place that
holds so much value to the lives of so many.
Hi-RockStars is an organization for campers and their friends to get
involved in fundraising and volunteering and to have an opportunity to
be leaders within the Hi-Rock community, as well as their own. Members
will be asked to fulfill a volunteer or fundraising requirement and
encouraged to contribute their ideas and efforts to advance Hi-Rock’s
mission to build strong kids, strong families and strong communities.
Once per session the group will meet with staff members and other
campers to plan service activities, projects for camp and to discuss
new ideas for camp.
Funds that are raised through the Hi-RockStars will go to the Strong
Kids Campaign. The Strong Kids Campaign is a fund that supports Camp
Hi-Rock’s youth programs and provides financial assistance to campers
and families who would not otherwise be able to attend camp. All of
Camp Hi-Rock benefits from the Strong Kids Campaign; whether it is
through the enhanced programs or the company of our friends who may
have never come to camp without the opportunities provided by the SKC.
Campers and friends can join in one of the following ways:
- Volunteer
at Camp Hi-Rock for at least 12 hours over the course of the year.
- Plan
and put together a fundraising project that raises at least $80 for the
Strong Kids Campaign. (Group projects of up to four people must raise
at least $200) Fundraising pages should be set up through firstgiving.com/camphirock.
- Make
a personal donation to the SKC of at least $40.
Campers
must fulfill one of the four requirements each year to maintain
membership.
Volunteer
Work Weekends
Twice
a year we hold volunteer work weekends for campers, alumni, staff,
families and community members to lend a hand to Hi-Rock. Volunteers
receive free food and lodging in exchange for their help on various
projects around camp. Participants can volunteer for a few hours or for
the whole weekend. We have projects for all ability levels. Our next
work weekend is May 1-3, 2009. Please RSVP before April 26 by
contacting Susan
Buckwalter: (413) 528-1227 x13.
